WCE Awards Grant to Plainville Food Pantry

Western Cooperative Electric has awarded a $2,500 Sharing Success Community Grant to the Plainville Food Pantry to support its Holiday Project, which provides additional food assistance to local families during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. 

The Plainville Food Pantry serves families throughout Damar, Palco, Zurich, Plainville, Codell, Natoma and the surrounding area of Paradise. Each month, the pantry assists approximately 76 to 85 families, representing an estimated 170 to 215 individuals. That number is about a 15% increase from this time last year. Families may visit the pantry once each month and receive a variety of food items, including bread, meat, fresh or canned vegetables and fruit. 

The Sharing Success Grant will help the pantry provide additional food assistance during the holidays, when having extra resources can make a meaningful difference for local families.

The increased number of families seeking assistance highlights the importance of accessible food resources in rural communities. Through its Holiday Project, the Plainville Food Pantry hopes to provide additional food for families during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
