Scholarships
Western Cooperative Electric's Scholarship Program is committed to investing in the leaders of tomorrow. Each year, the Western Cooperative Electric Board of Trustees awards three $1,000 scholarships and the $250 Darrell Brown Memorial Scholarship to support local students as they pursue higher education and career opportunities.
The Darrell Brown Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of Darrell Brown, a dedicated member of Western Cooperative Electric's Board of Trustees whose commitment to community service, leadership, and the cooperative principles left a lasting impact on the cooperative and the communities it serves.
Through this scholarship program, Western Cooperative Electric seeks to recognize students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, community involvement, and a commitment to making a positive difference in their communities.
Eligible applicants must be high school seniors who reside in or around one of the nineteen partner communities served by Western Cooperative Electric or be the legal dependents of an active member receiving residential electric service from Western Cooperative Electric.
We are proud to support the educational goals of local students and encourage the next generation of leaders to pursue their dreams while strengthening the future of rural Kansas. Applications are currently closed for the 2026-27 school year and will open again in January 2027.
