Western Cooperative Electric’s Sharing Success Fund, partnered with CoBank, and managed by the Golden Belt Community Foundation has awarded a $1,000 grant to Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas for fleet improvements.
DSNWK offers support to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the 18 counties of northwest Kansas. Support includes instruction in and help with self-care, skill building, communication, mobility, and employment so individuals can live and be active in their communities. By travelling to individual’s homes DSNWK can provide services to people who may not otherwise easily receive assistance.
Prior to the pandemic, in 2019 Developmental Services’ 55 vehicle fleet travelled over 800,000 miles. With the average fleet vehicle being 13 years old with over 125,000 miles, DSNWK is looking for donors to help update and manage their fleet. As a nonprofit, donations to DSNWK may be tax deductible.
“Western Co-op was excited to contribute to DSNWK since there is a lot of overlap between the areas we serve,” said Member Services Manager Nolan Numrich. “Our Sharing Success fund continues to be a great benefit for the communities we serve.”
Since 2013, the Sharing Success program has donated $78,000 to local non-profit organizations. To apply visit westerncoop.com/sharing success. Grants will be available until funds are exhausted.
